Questions and answers about TrackIt Life

Straight answers to the questions people ask most about the beta, privacy and AI.

Join the free beta

Is TrackIt Life free?

Yes, while it is in beta. You are not charged during your beta period, and we do not ask for a payment card or any payment details to join.

How long is the beta, and can I get more time?

Sign-ups get 3 months (invite codes can give 6 or 12). You can ask for 3 more from Settings in the last 30 days of your beta; extensions are reviewed by hand, up to 12 months in total. Beyond 12 months is at our discretion.

What happens when the beta ends?

We will tell you at least 60 days before we introduce a fee or end the beta, by email and in the app. Nothing converts to a paid plan on its own. If you choose not to subscribe, your account becomes read-only: you can still sign in, see your data and export it.

Is my data used to train AI?

Not by Mistral, our AI provider: what we send is covered by a zero-data-retention agreement and is not used to train their models. Our own categorisation model learns from your transaction descriptions only if you switch on that consent, which is off by default.

Do I have to use the AI features?

No. Every AI feature is optional, has its own consent switch and is off until you turn it on. You can switch any of them off again in the Privacy Center.

Where is my data hosted?

In the EU. Our servers are with OVH in France, and encrypted backups are kept with Hetzner in Germany for 30 days. TrackIt Life is run by A&C Digital Ltd, a UK company.

Can TrackIt Life read my financial figures?

No. Amounts in Finance are encrypted in your browser before they are sent to us, and the key that decrypts them is protected by your vault passphrase. We hold only a passphrase-locked copy of that key and cannot unlock it.

What if I forget my vault passphrase?

We cannot reset it or recover it, and nobody can decrypt your encrypted financial figures without it — including us. Keep the passphrase somewhere safe.

Can I export my data?

Yes. From the Privacy Center, the household owner can download everything the household holds as JSON, and every other member can download their own data. Financial amounts stay encrypted in the export, so keep your vault passphrase.

Can I delete everything?

The account owner can delete the whole account from the Privacy Center. There is a 30-day grace period in which you can cancel; after that the account, its members and all household data are deleted across every app, apart from a small set of records the Privacy Policy lists. A member who is not the owner can ask us to delete their own user record, which we do within one month.

Which apps are included?

All four. Every account includes Finance, Fitness, Shopping and Diet, along with the household home.

Can anyone join?

Sign-up may be open to everyone or by invitation at different times while we grow. If sign-up is by invitation when you visit, you will be asked for an invite code. You need to be 16 or over.

Can other people in my household see my data?

Household data — the budget, shopping lists and the household diet profile — is shared according to each member’s role. Your personal fitness data is scoped to you, though the owner’s full household export includes every member’s fitness profile, weight logs and body measurements.

Is there a mobile app?

Native iOS and Android apps are on the way, but we have not set a date yet. TrackIt Life works in your web browser today.

Do you support open banking?

Open banking is under consideration, with no date. Today you add transactions by importing statements as CSV, XLSX or PDF.
